Great News from the 'Sports Section'

It was a Monday night at a little club in San Rafael, CA., called New George's. The band that was playing there was called the Sports Section. They had a huge following too. They were sold out for both Monday and Tuesday nights. (March 2nd and March 3rd) Word was that it was Huey Lewis and the News playing under a pseudonym to test out some brand new material. The word was true.
Huey and the guys took the stage at approximately 9:30 PM. The fans were
excited about the new songs. Here's the list of songs that they played
that night. (They did have to throw in some old songs because they only
had 10 new ones and they wanted to fill the set.):
"So Little Kindness"
"Thank You 29"- This seemed to be the name of this song. By the way, for
you Chris Hayes fans out there, this song features an awesome guitar solo.
This song is also not to be confused with "I Thank You" from the Four
Chords and Several Years Ago album.
"My Other Woman Has Got Another Man" - The title of this song is kind
of self explanatory.
"Your Love is Killin Me" - This song has a really cool harmonica solo.
"Let Her Go, Start Over" - Great song that has been mentioned in prevous
articles.
"I'm Not In Love Yet, But I'm Workin On It" - Huey had mentioned before
they played this song that they played it for the first time together
just a few hours before the performance and that all of the fans should
bear with them if it sounded bad. It didn't of course.
"Plan B" - also previously mentioned.
"60 Minute Man"
"I Never Think About You" - This is a great song, but it is also widely
misunderstood. To quote Sean Hopper, keyboardist and vocalist for HLN,
"Why would he write a five minute song about a woman that he never thinks
about?"
"I Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do"
"I Ain't Perfect, But I'm Perfect For You"
"We're Not Here For A Long Time, But We're Here For A Good Time" - This
song was a cute little party song that was all about having fun.
In the encore they played three songs. Those songs were: "But It's All
Right", "Doin It All For My Baby", and the ever so popular "I Want A New
Drug".
A great time was had by all. The fans really seemed to take well to the new songs. They should've too because the new songs are just more proof that after all of these years Huey Lewis and The News have still got the magic touch. If you have a chance to catch HLN on tour this year, do it. If you don't, you'll be missing out on a great band and some great new songs.
