Great Day at Dixon May

Dixon May Fair; May 9th; Dixon, CA - The day began with a very daunting rain storm that threatened to close the concert. It continued to rain until one hour before the concert and then the clouds parted, the stars came out and so did Huey!!

The opening band was "Box Set". They could be compared to Blues Traveler in style. Great band, but certainly no Huey Lewis and the News!! The arena was sold out and really wet, and the silly security staff honestly tried to force everyone to sit down throughout the concert. But, in true Newshead fashion, the crowd was rockin' and on their feet in no time flat!

Huey must have been wondering what in the world was going on when the entire crowd kept sitting down. He kept yelling "Are you with me?" And that, of course sent everyone springing up again. Incidentally, the security stopped trying after the third song.

The concert was a great mix of all of the favorites and some of the new songs also. Especially well received was "60 Minute Man", "It's Alright", and "Plan B", yet to be released. As always the encore was the best part of the concert. (If you are new to Huey's concerts, stay for the encore!!)

Unfortunately, the evening had to come to an end after only one encore. All in all the horns sounded great, Chris Hayes was awesome and Johnny Colla was even better! And there are no words to describe Huey! It just gets better and better!
