A Blow Out Event!

Atlantic City, NJ; Trump Plaza; March 5, 1999 - The wind was whipping down the boardwalk and side streets but no one was really blown away until they heard HLN perform their classic good old rock and roll at Trumps. For those in the audience who were seeing HLN for the first time, Huey commented, "Where have you been?" and then the "classics" were performed. For those long time fans, some for whom have followed HLN for their 21 years together, there were a few newer numbers thrown in - although nothing truly new to old concert goers.

HLN opened with (Shes)Some Kind of Wonderful, followed by My Other Womans Got Another Man, Doin It All For My Baby, Heart & Soul, and Power of Love. Next, Huey gave the intros of his friends and colleagues for, as he said, over the last 21 years. That led into the a capella versions of 60 Minute Man, which left all the women swooning, and It's All Right.

Huey then yelled "Let's rock" as they led into The Heart of Rock and Roll, If This Is It, (Too) Hip to Be Square, But It's All Right, I Want A New Drug, and when assured that the audience was "still with them," HLN closed with We're Not Here for a Long Time, But We're Here for a Good Time. With the audience chanting for more the group performed an encore of Plan B, with intro and solos by the horn section, and then for the all the working class people, Workin For A Livin.

HLN performed with their usual zeal and command of great rock & roll, but unfortunately there appeared to be a problem with the sound, more particularly Huey's microphone. At times Chris' guitar licks completely overpowered Huey's voice, or maybe Huey's voice was not up to par that night. But all and all it was a great time for both the diehards that have been with them for all these years, and the newcomers who will be with them for many years to come. Everyone will be there for as long as HLN keeps spreading the news.
