Huey Lewis and the News Bring the Heat to Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe, Nevada; Caesar's Palace; July 9-11, 1999 - It was a cool 85 degrees outside on July 10th, 1999 in Lake Tahoe CA, but in the Caesars Tahoe’s Circus Maximus Showroom it was boiling HOT. Why? Huey Lewis and the News were in town and as usual they put on an awesome show. The song list included some of their classics, of course, as well as some fun new songs. The new ones were, "My Other Woman’s Got Another Man" and "We’re Not Here For A Long Time, We’re Here For A Good Time". Other songs in the set were, "But It’s All Right" and "So Little Kindness".

They also did some a’capella songs. "Little Bit Of Soap" was one. (A new a'capella song which features a solo from Sean Hopper.) The other a'capella song was dedicated to all of the women in the audience. It was "60 Minute Man" and all the women loved it.

During the show, Huey asked, "How many people are seeing us for the first time?" It was about half-and-half on the people seeing them for the first time and the ones who have seen them before. Huey joked with the first timers about how they usually have lasers and exotic animals in their show, but the truck couldn’t get over the pass so they’d just have to settle for music. He also joked saying, "And this next song is off of our new album, which will be out in about three to four years". Some of the band's fans may worry that may become true.

In the encore Huey and the News played "Plan B", which gave everyone a bit of a solo and featured the Horn section. (Rob, Ron, and Marvin) When Huey was introducing Rob Sudduth, the baritone sax player, he said, "Rob’s got a new jazzy album out. It’s a kind of a Frank Sinatra kind of thing. You can find it at amazon.com." Then Rob had reminded Huey that you can find it at Tower Records too and Huey said jokingly, "Is there anything else you wanted to add about this album Rob?" Rob then shrugged his shoulders and smiled. The encore ended with "Working For A Living". A perfect end to a perfect evening. As usual, Huey and the boys left the crowd wanting more.
