Westbury, New York; Westbury Music Fair; July 27, 1999 - It was a hot day in the New York City area but the evening was even hotter. Huey and the News were back in town and the crowd was rockin'. Huey looking absolutely great, as usual, in his lapis blue suit, opened the show with So Little Kindness. The band followed with My Other Woman Got Another Man, Heart & Soul, If This Is It, and the ever crowd pleasing Power of Love.
The pace was slowed down a bit by two a'Capella tunes. Huey had the women screaming and swooning with his true story of "60 Minute Man" which was followed by Little Bit of Soap. Sean shined in this song with his deep voice doing a short solo. (Rumor has it that last year at Westbury a fan suggested to Sean that this song would be good for the band to do. Evidently he liked the suggestion!) The boys began rockin' again with Heart of Rock & Roll, a new tune – When I Write the Book, 'Too' Hip to be Square, Let Her Go and Start Over, and two crowd favorites – But It's Alright and I Want a New Drug.
The group closed with Not Here for A Long Time but Here for a Good Time, which the crowd could readily agree. A good time was to be had by all but the audience clapped and begged for more. The encore included the now standard Plan B where Huey introduced the backup musicians. Missing from the usual group was Marvin McFadden. It was learned from Rob Sudduth that Marvin was doing a special gig (with the blessing of Huey) with the San Francisco Philharmonic and would be back touring soon. The ever popular Stuck with You was next followed by Workin' for a Living dedicated by Huey to all the fans who keep coming back to Westbury.
Huey and the News: As long as you keep spreadin' the news your devoted fans will continue to come!
