Marion, Ohio; Marion Popcorn Festival, Downtown Marion; September 10, 1999 - After the radio station promoting the concert announced they had an autographed guitar from Huey and the News that they were going to give away on Monday, the band took the stage at 8:30 PM. The good times began with "(She's) Some Kind of Wonderful," and "My Other Woman's Got Another Man." Early in the show Huey told the crowd that he had lived in Marion when he was 4 years old and that his father had friends there! He also asked boisterously... ARE YOU WITH ME? The crowd roared back enthusiastically.
During the show the smell of popcorn wafted through the air. For the next 90 minutes songs like "Doing It All For My Baby," "Heart of Rock &Roll," "Perfect World," "If This Is It," "Let Her Go and Start Over," and "Power of Love" kept the crowd dancing. The a capella numbers were "60 Minute Man," which Huey said that they liked the reaction to, and "Little Bit of Soap." During "But It's Alright," Huey had the festival's teen queen come onstage to hold the glockenspiel! Huey also introduced the band midway through the show and claimed John P. was a popcorn lover, then he later introduced the News Brothers.
The encore began with Huey exclaiming, "Alright, if you insist." "Stuck With You" was dedicated to Marion and then Huey wanted audience participation for "Plan B." The show was nearing an end when Huey shouted, "This is for the working man!" and lead into "Workin' for a Livin'."
By this time it was about 10 PM and Huey yelled a THANK YOU to the audience and as quick as it began, the show was over. Huey also mentioned a CD they had just finished recording and said not to get excited...it won't be out until March or April 2000.
