Huey Lewis & the News Play at the Providence Performing Arts Center

HLN started out with their new tunes "We’re Not Here for a Long Time", and "My Other Woman" which got everyone clapping and dancing in there seats. Some people in the audience tried to jump to their feet and dance but the security people were real stick-in-the-pants for keeping people in their seats! There was a big spread in age groups at the show, from young kids to the older aged group. Everyone was rocking!

Some of the standard hits were done, "Heart of Rock and Roll", "Doing It All For My Baby", and "Power of Love" (the last two were audience participation numbers - everyone was right in there participating). At this point Huey talked to the crowd and everyone seemed to be talking back! Huey asked if the audience wanted a Q&A session or did they want to hear more songs? Needless to say they all opted for more songs! This lead them into Plan B - which features the great talents of each horn player. Stef was just awesome on the guitar! HLN went back to some of the oldies but goodies and Huey finally told everyone to get up and dance with these songs. Once he did that everyone was up dancing - nothing the ushers could do would keep the crowd from getting up!

"I Want a New Drug" was the last song before the guys tried to get off the stage. After the first ovation, they came back and played "Do You Believe In Love" and "Working For a Living". Off they went but not for long - no one was giving up that soon! When they appeared after the second ovation, Huey asked if the audience didn’t have somewhere to be and said something about having to get up for an early tee time! He then made a deal with the audience that if he could play one of the new tunes that he would play an old favorite for all the fans. They played "I Ain’t Perfect" and not only "Stuck With You" but also threw in "Back in Time".

The evening went by so fast as it usually does at any HLN concert.
