The Mark of The Quad Cities presented Huey Lewis and the News, headlining the 2nd Annual "Taste of the Quad Cities". NADAS, a local group from Des Moines, opened the evening's entertainment.

The News were greeted with much enthusiasm by the crowd as they took their places. When Huey (pictured here by Jim Pietryga) arrived dressed in his Burgundy suit the audience was on their feet. The show was strong from the first note to the last song.

PLAYLIST:

  • We're Not Here For a Long Time (But We're Here For a Good Time)
  • My Other Woman
  • Heart of Rock and Roll
  • Trouble in Paradise
  • Power of Love
  • Plan B
  • If This Is It
  • Hip To Be Square
  • 60 Minute Man - a capella
  • Pretty Girls (Everywhere) - a capella
  • Jacob's Ladder
  • Heart and Soul
  • (But) Its Alright
  • I Want A New Drug
  • Do You Believe In Love?
  • Doin' It All For My Baby
  • Working For A Livin'

During "(But) It's Alright" as Huey was trying to accommodate all sides of the stage he nearly lost his footing climbing up onto the amplifiers. On his second attempt during "Doin' It All For My Baby", he finished out the song by purposely seating himself on top of the stage right amplifier.

This wasn't the first time Huey Lewis and The News performed in the Quad Cities and it won't be the last.

10 days before their Quad Cities engagement, the band made their fourth appearance at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL.

Hello Dave was the opening act. The forecast called for the possibility of rain off and on all day, which may have contributed to the less than stellar sound, but it was still a good show.

When prompted by Huey, most of the crowd was hearing this "new" band for the first time. Throughout the evening, Huey kept asking the audience if they were still with him, to which they politely responded favorably. The playlist was nearly the same as the Quad Cities with "Rhythm Ranch" and "Thank You #19" instead of "Trouble in Paradise".

Rain or shine, a Huey Lewis & the News concert is always entertaining.
