It's all fun and games until someone loses a "y"

At the GMA concert Friday some random guys barged into the front of the crowd and gave out painted styrofoam letters that spelled out "We [heart] Huey." I'm not quite sure how it worked out this way, but by the time the women interested in holding the letters figured out how to spell "Huey" so it wouldn't sound like someone retching, I suddenly found myself holding a blue "y." Although I could hardly believe my good fortune that I was about to realize my lifelong dream of singing and dancing on national television while holding a "y," I took my "y"-waving duties very seriously. "I must not wave the 'y' negligently," I thought to myself, in so many words. Had you heard me say this out loud you would have been completely justified in slapping me at that point. I was certainly tempted to, just for thinking it.
Anyway, having been laden with this awesome "y"-waving burden, I decided to make the most of it, and after the show I opted to keep the "y." This necessitated walking through Manhattan while carrying a spare "y," but seeing how it was Manhattan no one noticed.
I decreed it to be the official HLN concert-going "y," and so brought it with me to Jones Beach that evening. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me bring it in. Instead they enforced their unwritten "no 'y'" policy against me. Apparently they feared that either I or a neighboring fan would just go wild with it and poke someone in the eye. Seems that there is such a thing as negligent "y" waving after all, and they were determined not to have it take place in their venue. I do think, however, that had Huey spelled his name with an "o" that would have been acceptable. Damn Huey for his obstinately phonetic appellation. It ruined all my fun.
Undaunted, however, I brought it with me to Holmdel, where they had no problems with me bringing in my "y." Apparently in NJ you're free to poke as many people in the eye as you please.
The question now is, should I bring my "y" to Turlock? Does anyone know if they have a "no 'y'" policy? Is it likely that they will make one between now and then? This is, of course, presuming that I can remember to pack it. You know how I am with that, and I think it would be really stupid – as well as embarrassing – to pack a "y" and not, say, pants.
Obviously one doesn't need to have a "y" at a HLN concert, but given that I'm no longer shlepping law books to them I feel so naked… It's just not a HLN concert to me unless I'm holding something incongruous, so this just might do the trick.

As I was standing next to Calgrad, I can attest to the fact that she indeed did not poke anyone in the eye with her "Y"!!
So anyone in charge at Turlock, you can be assured that she is capable of holding that "Y" safely!!
(By the way she did a wonderful job of holding that "y" when prompted!!!)

I was standing directly behind the "we *heart* huey* sign at the GMA show. I was the handsome young man in the light blue shirt. Did you believe the story that the guys with the painted letters said "they were from the record label"??? It seemed a bit suspicious. I think they were just doing it for fun. The tshirts that they were handing out looked pretty weak too. I was at the Jones Beach show too, do you happen to know the name of the Chicago song that Huey sang vocals on? I think it was the third (or so) song that Chicago played in their set. I kinda liked it.

I know nothing of Turlock, but i think you should bring your Y..I mean y not? It should be forever your symbol of the gma performance and any venue that doesn't allow you to bring your Y with you is utterly yidiculous..oops....i mean ridiculous. Enjoy your y moments while you can

Y? Y - not!!! Ya know, there is small contingency of "We heart Hue" out there just as lost as "y". Could possibly be discriminated against as well from venues that dis-allow incomplete statements of adoration. I hope those faithful few were just as loyal in their duties as you were Calgrad! Looks like we may have to place a lost & found ad: LOST - "We heart Hue". Last seen on GMA Thurs. morning. If found please respond to Calgrad's posts.
You always know how to amuse your fellow posters - keep up the shenanigans.

Well the "y" made it to California. The TSA guys at Logan Airport made the requisite jokes upon seeing it but otherwise looked as if they'd seen stranger things pass through the x-ray machine.
But if they thought it was safe enough to take on a plane,
surely
the Turlock people should let it into the fair, right?

BTW..thanks for the heads up on the
Boston Zombies
....so I wasn't too distraught when I checked into my hotel to see the hours and rooms listed for the MA Bar Exam...there were quite a few of those very zombies wandering the halls

Calgrad,
If you go back and read the fine print on your ticket CAREFULLY, you will see that the venue only allows the five officially recognized vowels into concerts. Since Y is only "sometimes" considered a vowel, they were justified in not allowing it.
I'm surprised you didn't try to sneak in something reallyl crazy......like an exclamation point!!!!

I'm not sure an exclamation point would have made it back to CA though - unless you checked at least one part of it in your checked luggage. You are only allowed to take one personal item with your hand luggage, and the line and the dot would have to be separate. Unless you did something clever to join them. Or am I reading too much into this?
