Well I've just paid for a dvd of the Japan Live 31/12/89 and since it's coming from the states I will have to wait a week for it's arrival.  Poor me.  But I'm really hoping I haven't paid for a lemon and are really getting what I paid for.

Anyway interested here is the link http://www.ioffer.com/i/128469903?from_buyer=1

I remember a TV show from Japan broadcasted in 1989. They had Boys Are Back In Town from that show up on youtupe a couple of months ago but I am not sure if it was a gig with a full set. Great quality and an absolutely amazing version of BABIT
The video of Boys Are Back in Town i think u are speaking of was at Slims Nightclub in 1989.. It was a AIDS benefit concert.. Great show!!!

Neo, where did you pick up the '91 concert DVD?

It's going back many years now, about 93.  We found the details in a magazine called Music Trader or something close to that and this guy converted the video into PAL which is Australian video format.  Have you tried doing a google search, because that is how I found the Japan 89 concert?  I've transferred it recently to a DVD and I could do something if you are interested?

I just picked up a copy of 'all the way live '87' from a seller in Japan via ebay. Its the laserdisc copy and i must say the sound and vision is spectacular! Better than dvd in my opinion and its amazing what you can find on laserdisc that isnt available on beta, vhs or dvd...

Toot! Yay. I got my DVD in today's mail-Japan 89.  I only checked it out briefly to see if it works and it does.  I will do a small report later.  Excited to see another Chris Hayes concert.  Yes I love the old stuff.

LOL  There are at least 5, maybe more, concerts being discussed in this thread.  Maybe I can clear things up a bit.  The answer to your question depends on which youtube clip you're talking about.  The clip where the stage is very dark with spotlights on whichever band member is playing at the moment is the 12-31-89 concert in Japan that neo found for sale on the above link.   The clip that shows Sean wearing a white shirt, followed by Chris and Johnny playing in front of a brick wall is from the In Concert for Aids in 1989.  Various artists performed in the Bay area for this benefit and HLN performed at Slim's.  A video of them performing 3 songs including one with Dwight Clark,  is floating around the forum, thanks to one terrific forum member!

Well my husband and I sat down to the Japan 89 concert last night.  Seanfan has already mentioned the lighting is only on one member at the time, and the footage is pretty average.  The quality was good, it was just the shots were all over the place.  One minute to Johnny playing the sax solo and then to Huey's feet!  Also couldn't really get the vibe it was a live concert because you couldn't hear the audience!  At one point my husband said which song is next and I said "Lets get this party rocking" of course POL.  It was great to see early versions of Build Me up, Free love,  & Couple days off.  And very cool to see Mario play bass solo during I Want a New Drug.

But the BIG Q. is "Where did Sean get that Byson shirt?"  What a fashion statement! cheesy

Setlist:
Heart of Rock & Roll
Heart & Soul
Build me up
Free love
Perfect World
Whole lotta lovin/Boys are back in town
If this is it
The Power of love
Couple days off
I want a new drug
I Know What I like
Workin for a livin

LOL His shirt pales in comparison to the animal print that Huey was wearing!
