Duets

Duets is about karaoke hustlers who compete for prizes. Of course, Huey plays a karaoke master who is the father of Gwyneth Paltrow. The movie is all a "Buzz buzz buzz" because of Paltrow's recent Oscar award. The movie's highpoint: Huey and Gwyneth team up on Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'."

Duets Movie Reviews

.Com For Murder

This is a 2000 film. This high-tech, psychological thriller is set in the shadowy world of the Internet. Sondra Brummel is recovering from a skiing accident in her boyfriend's mansion, and accidently contacts a possible killer in an Internet chatroom. She and her friend Misty enter a virtual game that that becomes all too real.

In this movie Huey plays Detective Matheson.

Dead Husbands

This is a 1998 film. John Ritter stars as Dr. Carter Elson, who finds a list of men's names among his wife Alex's (Nicollette Sheridan) possessions. When Carter discovers his own name at the bottom of the list, and that some of the other names are those of dead men, he confides in his friend/agent Betty (Amy Yasbeck). Time is ticking as they try and figure out what the list means before his name reaches the top. Alex, a small town girl who marries the up-and-coming doctor as an entry to the social-climbing world she always coveted, is frustrated when obstacles are placed in her path. She meets two other "unhappy wives," played by Sonja Smits and Donna Pescow, and discovers a way out that may be the answer to all of her prayers. The women conspire to 'shorten the list!'

Huey plays 'Dalton Phillips' but is uncredited in this movie.

Shadow of Doubt

This mystery with conspiracy theory overtones starring Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger is well constructed. The clues to the killer could have been a touch stronger but it's basically a "play fair" mystery with lots of red herrings to keep you guessing. Berenger, as usual, is very good as the DA opposing defense attorney Griffith, whom he used to date. Griffith is very believable as the sharp attorney often underestimated due to her looks and little girl voice. Singer Huey Lewis is a very pleasant surprise as Griffith's investigator and tech expert.

Short Cuts

'Short Cuts', the wonderfully funny and highly praised box office hit from the director of 'The Player', was named by virtually every film critic as one of the best films of the year. Altman skilfully interweaves the humorous, sexy, romantic and sometimes tragic stories of twenty two unforgettable characters, all inhabitants of the sprawling suburbs of Los Angeles. An assortment of phone-sex operators, unfaithful husbands, windictive wives, cops, bakers, pool cleaners, make-up artists, jazz singer, fishermen and incontinent dogs cross each others paths, laugh, cry and fight in this amazingly gripping slice of modern American life. Huey has a fairly sizeable role as one of the fishermen.
